Making the Most of the Holidays: Networking Tips for REALTORS®

Louisiana REALTORS® • November 17, 2023

The holidays are a great time for real estate agents to build relationships and broaden their network in addition to being a time for family get-togethers and joyous celebrations. Developing relationships with brokers, lenders, and other real estate professionals in a unique atmosphere may make holiday networking pleasurable and fruitful. We'll look at some practical holiday networking advice for REALTORS® in this blog, so that you may make the most of the season and grow your business at the same time.

Host a Festive Networking Event

Organize a holiday-themed networking event to provide a casual gathering place for REALTORS®, brokers, lenders, and other professionals in the business. Whether it's a winter wonderland get-together, a cocktail party, or a nice breakfast, setting a festive mood might improve networking chances. Spread holiday cheer by promoting candid discussions, sharing success stories, and discussing possible collaborations.

Send Thoughtful Holiday Greetings

Make the most of the holidays to show your appreciation and kindness. Give individualized holiday cards or greetings to lenders, brokers, and other real estate experts you've collaborated with all year long. A personal message can make a big impression and pave the way for future business dealings. Mention particular achievements in your working relationship to demonstrate your sincere gratitude and overall attention to your joined partnership.

Collaborate on Community Initiatives

Giving back to the community during the holidays may strengthen bonds among real estate agents, and working together on philanthropic projects is one way to do this. Collaborate with lenders, brokers, and other stakeholders to plan a charity function or make a donation to a nearby organization. This demonstrates your dedication to community involvement and fortifies your professional relationships.

Attend Industry-Specific Holiday Gatherings

Investigate holiday parties held by chambers of business, real estate associations, or other professional associations that are industry-specific. Come to these events to network with new industry players, trade business cards, and learn about current trends in the field. Talking about the real estate market over a drink might yield insightful information and create opportunities for future cooperation.

Utilize Social Media Platforms

Make the most of social media to expand the reach of your holiday networking. Post holiday updates, take part in industry debates, and establish online connections with experts. Think about starting a networking group with a holiday theme or joining ones that already exist so that real estate agents may exchange opportunities and insights.

Organize a Secret Santa Gift Exchange

Arrange for a real estate professionals' Secret Santa gift exchange to inject some fun into your networking endeavors. In addition to making the holidays happier, this playful exercise teaches participants more about one other's interests and preferences. The element of surprise can start thought-provoking discussions and forge enduring bonds.

As a REALTOR®, the holidays offer a special chance to build relationships, show gratitude, and set the stage for a prosperous new year. You may enjoy the festive spirit of the season and forge lasting relationships with brokers, lenders, and other real estate professionals by implementing these holiday networking techniques into your business plan. Thus, now is the perfect time to connect with people, work together, and build long-lasting relationships that can help your real estate activities in the upcoming year. Merry Christmas and prosperous networking.

Louisiana’s 2026 Regular Session opened this week with several developments that matter directly to REALTORS ®, property managers and housing providers, alongside some broader political shifts worth watching. HB 292: Security Deposit Return Timelines Rep. Delisha Boyd’s HB 292, which addresses procedures for returning residential security deposits, was deferred to next week. This provides additional time for stakeholders to engage with members on practical impacts for lease administration, move out inspections and documentation standards. We’ll continue working to ensure any changes to deposit law are clear, workable and do not expose housing providers to unreasonable liability. Land Use and Development: St. James Parish Decision The Louisiana Supreme Court’s recent St. James Parish decision significantly tightens the standards for overturning local land use decisions, reinforcing that zoning and permitting authority rests with parish and municipal governments as long as their decisions are not arbitrary or capricious. For real estate and development, that means more predictability if projects are aligned with adopted plans and ordinances, but also higher stakes in local elections, planning processes and parish-level negotiations. Governor’s State of the State In his State of the State address, Governor Jeff Landry reiterated his push to phase out the state income tax, expand the LA GATOR and MJ Foster scholarship and workforce programs, and replace vehicle inspection stickers with a QR code system. These programs frame a debate around long-term competitiveness, workforce readiness and household cost of living which are all key drivers of housing demand and migration patterns. Business & Market Trends The business community is focusing the session on insurance, workforce and energy. Commercial and property insurance costs remain a top concern for employers and property owners, and we are monitoring civil justice and insurance reform proposals that could affect market stability and availability. At the same time, Louisiana is seeing more than $100 billion in announced industrial and data center projects, which could reshape local markets, labor conditions and housing needs in multiple regions of the state.
