Right now, Louisiana’s self-response rate is 59.7%, which ranks #47 nationally — ahead of only Alaska, Maine, New Mexico, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico. Census data affects a number of important things, including the distribution of federal grants and funds, state and congressional district boundaries, the number of seats each state gets in the House of Representatives, neighborhood development, home values, property taxes, where businesses decide to open, population shift information, buyer demographic data, and more.

This guide explains federal tax law changes that temporarily quadruple the amount of state and local taxes (SALT) that taxpayers can deduct and will make homeownership more accessible and affordable, especially for people in higher-tax states.
