REALTOR® day at the Capitol.
REALTORS® from across the state gathered at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge to meet with our legislators about issues important to the real estate industry. LR is actively tracking the bills going through the State House and Senate. For weekly updates, check www.larealtors.org/legislative.
Malcolm Young’s 25 Year Anniversary
LR’s CEO, Malcolm Young was honored for 25 years of service as the chief executive officer. The event was hosted at the Governor’s Mansion. Guests included Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne; President-Elect of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), Scott Brown; and New Orleans Councilwoman Jacquelyn Clarkson, who served as President of Louisiana REALTORS® in 1987 when Young was hired. Legislative Reception
Late in afternoon on Tuesday, LR hosted a reception for REALTORS® and Legislators at the historic Pentagon Barracks. REALTOR® members interacted withour state lawmakers on a more personal level during the reception.

Grant Simon’s Why Washington Made us Change
Grant Simon’s 4 hour CE course focused on teaching agents about the legislation responsible for the complicated changes to the industry. The class placed emphasis on revitalizing the American Dream of homeownership and learning how to be an “agent of change.”
REALTOR® Awards Luncheon
NAR President-Elect, Scott Brown addressed the attendees with keynote speech regarding the state of the industry as well as the future direction of REALTORS®. Local boards were honored for their donations to the LARPAC fund. Also, Frank Trapani, the 2013 REALTOR® of the Year was honored for his service and loyalty to the REALTOR® brand. View photos here.
Major Investor Event
There was a reception held at the Old State Capitol for Louisiana REALTORS® Major Investors. The event started with hors d'oeuvres and a meet and greet with Governor Edwin Edwards and Governor Kathleen Blanco. After the starting reception, REALTORS® gathered for a Q&A with the Governors and finished the night with a sit down meal.
