How to Earn the GRI Designation

REALTORS who earn the GRI designation have a higher rate of success in the industry. Many of today's top producers in every market around the state earned the GRI designation at the start of their careers. The curriculum is based on valuable courses created to establish lasting systems for your business and helps develop the strategies to effectively represent your clients. In order to earn the GRI, you must take 12 credits or 96 hours over a period of five  years and this can be achieved through the following course options. Designation Courses - Required

Each earns 2 credits with a total of 4 credits toward the designation. Recommended to be taken in live classroom or can be taken online.


Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) 

two-day course, 1 elective also need to earn ABR designation (annual fee to maintain) 

Seller Representative Specialist (SRS)

two-day course, 1 elective also needed to earn SRS designation (annual fee to maintain)


Elective Options

Each option earns 1 credit. Can select between 5-8 credits from this group of courses. Can be taken live or online.


Real Estate Negotiation Expert (2 credits)

At Home with Diversity (AHWD) Certification (1 credit)

EPro Certification (2 day, 2 credits)

Short Sales & Foreclosures (1 credit)

Pricing Strategy Advisor (1 credit)

Buyers by Generation: Success in Every Segment (1 credit)

Marketing Strategy & Lead Generation (1 credit)

Home Finance Resource Certification (1 credit)

Generation Buy (1 credit)

Other Credit Options

These designations or certifications earn up to 2 credits each

but cannot exceed 4 credits.


Certified Residential Specialists (CRS)

Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES)

GREEN Designation

Military Relocation Professional Certification (MRPC)
