GRI - Set Yourself Apaprt

The Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is the foundation coursework for other designations, licenses and certifications. The program is designed primarily for members whose main business activity is residential real estate, and helps those members increase their knowledge and skills in a wide range of technical subjects and real estate fundamentals.

The designation is exclusive: It’s awarded only to real estate agents who have successfully completed a rigorous program of study that covers many areas of real estate. Such exclusivity ensures that agents who have attained the GRI designation are considered leaders in the real estate profession.

Why GRI?

According to a 2005 NAR Member Profile:

  • 18% of all REALTORS have earned the GRI Designation.
  • REALTORS with the GRI Designation earn on average almost $50,000 more than REALTORS with no designations.
  • Generate more leads and referrals through course contacts and expand your network of real estate professionals

As a Louisiana REALTOR with a GRI Designation you can give your career (and income) a boost. Read the GRI success stories of fellow Louisiana REALTOR Members. Do you have a GRI Success story? Click here and tell us about it.

Earning your GRI

The GRI designation is obtained by attending a specific intensive series of 96 hours of instruction, covering subjects in: Contract Law; Professional Standards; Sales & Marketing; Finance; Risk Reduction; Technology.

Louisiana REALTORS breaks down the required hours of instruction into 12 one-day courses. Courses do not have to be taken in any particular order. You have 5 years from the date which you take your first course to complete all coursework. You may not repeat a course that you have already taken in order to earn additional credits. You may also earn GRI credits by taking the ABR (Accredited Buyer Representation) course or REBAC (Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council) electives.
