The Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is the foundation coursework for other designations, licenses and certifications. The program is designed primarily for members whose main business activity is residential real estate, and helps those members increase their knowledge and skills in a wide range of technical subjects and real estate fundamentals. GRI logo

 

 

 According to a 2013 NAR Member Profile:

• REALTORS® with the GRI Designation earn on average $27,600 more than REALTORS® with no designations
• Earning the GRI will help increase your marketability while giving you a professional advantage
• GRI Designees are able to serve and protect clients with their understanding of technology, laws and procedures

In Louisiana the hours of instruction are broken down into a specific set of courses required to complete the GRI designation.  To obtain a GRI designation students are required to earn a total of twelve (12) GRI credits.  This is a total of 96 hours of instruction covering subjects including Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Customer & Client Services, Cultural Diversity, Risk Management, Contract Law, Technology and Professional Standards.

While earning the GRI designation, students can also earn other nationally recognized designations, certifications and fulfill some of the LREC continuing education requirements. Students working to earn the GRI have up to five (5) years to fulfill the necessary requirements.

Online GRI Platform

Louisiana REALTORS® offers four (4) online modules that will make it possible to earn four (4) GRI credits totaling 32 hours of instruction.

  REALTOR® GRI - Module One: Foundation: Basics of Real Estate
  REALTOR® GRI - Module Two:  Working with Seller
  REALTOR® GRI - Module Three: Working with Buyers
  REALTOR® GRI - Module Four: Progress to Profit
 
 REALTOR® GRI - Package Modules One-Four 

These modules can be purchased individually or as a package.  Upon completion you will earn 1 GRI credit per module for a total of four (4) GRI credits. Earn up to 17 CE credits.

The Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) educates and prepares buyer's reps to provide superior service to buyers and offers methods for building a buyer representation business. In each course module, students examine a different topic that creates a comprehensive guide to help become an effective, efficient and profitable buyer's representative. To earn the ABR Designation, you must also take one (1) REBAC elective**. Online course offered by REALTOR® Universityearns 1 GRI credit. 
2 days in classroom earns 2 GRI credits, credit towards the ABR designation, 8 hours of CE

This Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) course focuses on providing students with tools necessary to cover the ins and outs of working with seller clients.  It is designed to address the challenges seller agents face on a day to day basis. Covering the basics of agency responsibilities and teaches cutting edge approaches to enhance how the selling public is represented. 
2 days, earns 2 GRI credits, 8 hours of CE

 

at-home-with-diversity logoAHWD 
At Home with Diversity (AHWD) teaches real estate professionals how they can increase their sensitivity and adaptability to future market trends. It addresses issues of diversity, fair housing, and cultural differences. Participants will learn practical skills and tools to expand business and effectively service all cultural groups. This course will be accepted taken live in classroom or online through REALTOR® University.

What a sales professional knows about consumer credit and the credit scoring system can change the way they do business. This course reviews all there is to know about credit scoring, which will influence students personally and professionally. Learn what your clients need to know about their credit.

Know Your Numbers & Win Sales 
This course will leave students with a deeper understanding of how current market statistics affect their business and how the Federal Reserve and Federal Housing Finance Agency are actively involved. This course also teaches ways to explain to customers the difference between a Primary and Secondary market and gain a better understanding of interest rates and the economy.  
1 day, earns 1 GRI credit, 8 hours of CE

Ninja Negotiating 
Formerly titled "You Don't Get What You Deserve; You Get What You Negotiate." In this course, learn firsthand about the principles, strategies, and tactics used in the art of negotiating. Not every generation negotiates the same way. This course will help you gain outstanding, hands-on, real-life experience during practice negotiations, using real-life situations. 
1 day, earns 1 GRI credit, 8 hours of CE

Communicating Effectively Using Technology 
The course is designed to show real estate professionals how they can use the latest technology tools to manage real estate transactions, protect consumer information, reduce legal risk and provide buyers and sellers with extensive information to help them make informed decisions.

Power of Technology 
This program is specifically designed to identify technology that needs to be used in the real estate world. This program will give you the tools you need to effectively communicate with your clients and today’s consumers.

Web Empowered Agent 
Real estate licensees are using the Internet more and more to market their services and properties, communicate with clients and customers and to transact business.  This brings about a number of areas of risk to the licensee.  REALTORS® must be certain that they are in compliance with federal and state laws regarding Internet use and advertising and they are protecting the privacy of clients.  REALTORS® must also adhere to the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics as it pertains to advertising, electronic communication, representation issues, etc.
1 day, earns 1 GRI credit, 2 hours of CE

Effective Negotiating for Real Estate Professionals   
This course helps students gain a strong competitive advantage in securing agreements by negotiating in a more powerful and productive way. Students will learn the difference between positional bargaining and value negotiating and explore the benefits, tactics and risks involved. Discover how to secure the best outcomes for your clients. Learn to identify problems and solutions in negotiating. Move beyond the barriers of impasse to mutually beneficial agreements.

Generation Buy 
At any given time, today’s real estate professionals may be working with four generations of real estate buyers: Millennials, Generation X, the Baby Boomers, and Matures. This one-day course examines the home buying characteristics of these generations and evaluates their expectations (of agents and of the transaction) as well as communication preferences.

Real Estate Marketing Reboot 
This course will increase awareness of how significantly the home buying process has changed in the past decade, and how to improve real estate marketing strategy to change with it.  Students will learn how to develop innovative and effective ways to market their services to any homebuyer. The course explores the buyer counseling session in great detail and looks at marketing opportunities and points of differentiation.

Short Sales & Foreclosure 
For many real estate professionals, short sales and foreclosures represent the new “traditional” real estate transaction. This course helps students evaluate all available options for distressed homeowners and identify the components of an effective short-sale package. This course looks at how real estate professionals can counsel buyer-clients in the purchase of foreclosure properties. And as a practical resource, this course shows students how consumers can avoid foreclosure in the future.

NAR’s Green Designation Core Course  Green logo
NAR’s Green Designation Core Course provides advanced training in green building and sustainable business practices so that you can seek out, understand, and market properties with green features. As a practical resource, this course shows real estate professionals how to explain to consumers what makes a home, building, or property green, how to list and market green properties while fulfilling ones legal and professional obligations, and how to implement green practices on the road and in the office.

Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES)SRES logo
Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) is a designation for REALTORS® to address the needs of home buyers age 55-plus. With so many options on the horizon, SRES® is where the future takes shape. This course will help develop the business building skills and resources needed for specialization in the 50+ real estate market. 
2 days, earns 1 GRI credit, counts as 1 REBAC elective credit toward ABR, earns 8 hours of CE
